Tsipras to call vote of confidence after Kammenos’ party leaves Greek government

Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos, leader of the junior Independence Greek (ANEL) coalition partner in government, announced Sunday that his party is withdrawing from the government due to its opposition to the Prespa Agreement. The announcement came after his meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

After the leader of the Independence Greek Party (ANEL) Panos Kammenos said he was pulling out from the cabinet due to his opposition to the Prespa agreement, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will call a confidence vote in his  government next week.

‘We will immediately proceed with the process to renew the parliament’s support for the government,’ Tsipras said after a meeting in Athens Sunday with Kammenos. Tsipras appointed Evangelos Apostolakis as his new Defence Minister.
