Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra holds 73rd anniversary concert


Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra is to hold Friday evening a symphonic concert titled ‘Happy Birthday!’ to mark its 73rd anniversary. Borjan Canev is the conductor, whereas Ljubisha Kirovski will perform as soloist.

The programme includes Prelude for orchestra no. 2 by Macedonian composer Pande Shahov, Violin Concert no. 1, op. 28 by Karl Goldmark and George Gershwin’s An American in Paris symphonic tone poem.

A brief retrospective review of the history of the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra by the musicologist Marko Kolovski will be held prior to the concert. Moreover, an exhibition of photographs called “Maestro” dedicated to the most important conductors of the Philharmonic will be announced.
