Macedonia to recognize Interpol’s Travel Document

The Macedonian government and the International Criminal Police Organization – Interpol will sign an agreement on recognizing the Interpol Travel Document as agreed on Tuesday in Lyon by Interior Minister Oliver Spasovski and Interpol’s Secretary General Jürgen Stock.

Under the agreement, Macedonia will recognize the travel document used by authorized officials only when carrying out official duties on INTERPOL-related matters.

In a meeting with Stock at Interpol’s headquarters in Lyon, Minister Spasovski said the efficiency of the fight against organized crime, terrorism, violent extremism, etc, depended on the how quickly cooperation would be established in terms of sharing of information and data.

“It is a vital visit, especially because it is realized in times when we are faced with serious challenges globally. I gives me great pleasure that the Interpol Secretary General has recognized the efforts made by Macedonia to reform the Interior Ministry and the approach it has undertaken to cooperate with Interpol,” Spasovski stated after meeting Stock.

He extended an invitation to the Interpol Secretary General to visit Macedonia, which would be seen as ‘sending a message involving the joint fight against crime and corruption and against all global challenges.
