Angjusev: Eight new investments worth EUR 73,5 million in free economic zones

Skopje, 15 February 2018 (MIA) – There are eight new investments in the technological-industrial development zones worth EUR 73,5 million and due to open 1,570 new jobs, said Vice Premier for Economic Affairs Koco Angjusev on Thursday.

“In a couple of months after unveiling the Government’s Economic Growth Program we have eight new investments worth over EUR 73,5 million and more than 1,500 new jobs while spending zero funds, compared to the 23 investments and EUR 225 million spent in the past seven years. We still have not launched the program, but eight agreements are already signed, while 30 more foreign investments are expected in the coming period,” Angjusev told a press conference.

According to him, six foreign companies already investing in Macedonia have announced they would double their capacities after recognizing the opportunities offered by the Economic Growth Programme.

Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi said the Law on Financial Support of Investments has been placed at the Single National Electronic Register of Regulations (ENER) as of today, with Angjusev adding they expect its adoption by the end of March, followed by an official launch of the Economic Growth Programme.

Simulations carried out when drafting the program showed that EUR 50 million of budget funds are sufficient to support companies in 2018, but a review is an option if required.
