EU Ambassador Samuel Zbogar has said that postponement of the Census due to the early parliamentary elections is a logical decision in order to eliminate any political influence, in hope the statistical operation will take place by 2021 at the latest.

“The census had to be postponed due to the decision on the early elections, which is logical in these circumstances. The Census is a process that all citizens benefit from and it should be free of any political influence. We understand that the technical preparations are ongoing and we hope for political will to complete this operation. We expect the Census as soon as all prerequisites are met, by 2021 at the latest, when other European countries also organize their censuses,” said Zbogar at today’s event observing the European Statistics Day.

According to Zbogar, the census would provide fresh data on how to best create public policies for the population, such as health, education and waste management.
