Zaev-Gerberich: Germany supports Macedonia’s bid to join NATO and EU


Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met Monday with the German Ambassador Thomas Gerberich, whereat Macedonia’s reform steps and good-neighborly relations that lead to realization of strategic Euro-Atlantic goals were greeted.

Gerberich conveyed Germany’s support for Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic aspiration underlying that the country has majority support of the German Bundestag for joining the European Union, Government Press Service informs.

He also told that German Bundestag MPs returned in Germany with positive impressions from their visit to Macedonia in regard to constructive policies through which issues relevant to country’s progress are being addressed.

Government is firmly committed towards policies that will provide quality reform process in the interest of the citizens and opening of perspectives to EU and NATO enlargement. We expect move on that road in the next three months, Zaev said.

Interlocutors also discussed about Western Balkans Digital Summit, which will be held this week in Skopje, as well as about the investment opportunities that should contribute to economic development of the Republic of Macedonia, reads the press release.
