Where is Europe headed, and where is Macedonia?

A few days ago, the first European People’s Party (EPP) Political Assembly was held in Brussels after the elections for the European Parliament. It was extremely interesting to hear first hand how the leaders of the largest European party, as well as representatives of the largest European parties in their countries, explain and see the results.

The EPP, after this election, remains the largest party in the European Parliament. This is something that the European moderate right, those who are part of the center-right parties, can be proud of. If the concept of a leading candidate is examined, then the president of the European Commission will again come from the EPP, so the successor of Jean-Claude Juncker, who is practically the prime minister of Europe, will again come from the people’s parties. It is also likely that the EPP will also offer the next president of the European Council, the successor to Donald Tusk, who is practically the president of the European Union. But it must be noted that the EPP had a reduction of nearly 40 MEPs. The EPP power in this parliamentary composition will not be the same as it has been until now. There will be significant shifts in the election of the President of the European Parliament (until now, the president of the European Parliament was also from EPP – Antonio Tianni).

The election of the European Commission is seriously dwindling. If it is almost certain that in July or Septembe there will be an agreement on the President of the european government, then the distribution of seats in it and the election of commissioners, will happen after long and painful negotiations. The current coalition between the EPP and the Socialists can not deliver a majority in the European Parliament. A third partner is needed and the question arises as to who that might be. Will it be from the Liberals, dominated by French President Emanuel Macron, or the European Conservatives and Reformists, where, after the UK exit from the EU the party of Polish leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski will dominate?

The fall of the EPP is due to the growth of the radically right parties in Europe. As the fall of the Socialists was due to the growth of radical Leftists and Communists. In summary, the two big parties from the center left and the center right lost their votes and mandates at the expense of the radicals in both blocs. It is a fact that European populists, as they are called, failed to bring the results they announced, but it is also a fact that they have made solid results that must be respected and that already bring changes in their countries – if in France due to the presidential political system until Macron’s mandate expires there can not be electiosn, then in Italy, as a classic parliamentary political system, it is clear that there will be elections this summer or this autumn. The Prime Minister of Italy has already announced that he can not maintain the existing coalition.

All of this suggests an uncertain political autumn in Europe and makes the establishment of the European Commission in entirety almost impossible. But what is a fact is that Europe is heading to the right. The many problems that migrants are causing, the high taxes imposed in Europe, primarily as a result of leftist policies, decadence in societies, liberal policies on marriage and family, and a departure from church and faith meant a complete failure of the European system and made the European countries not as attractive living destinations as they were in the 80’s or the 90’s of the 20th century. That is why Europe will go to the right to revert to its fundamentals of a free market with minimal regulation and low taxes, values based on Christian civilization and a policy that will not allow more migrants to enter Europe.

In that direction, it is good to look at where Macedonia is and whether the current government under Zaev understands the new trends in Europe. The first trend after these elections is that there will be no undeserved EU membership anymore. Political decisions on reception, as was the case for Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Croatia, Cyprus, will be no more. One will need to deserve its place in the EU. For the country to become a member of the EU, it will have to live as if in the EU well. And Macedonia is very, very far from that. The policy of turning a blind eye will no longer work. Unfortunately, Macedonia does not deliver reforms, corruption is booming, and the economy is being ruined. And that is why there is enormous reservation among the most powerful European countries about granting a date for start of membership negotiations. And mind you, It’s only starting membership negotiations we’re talking about, not full EU membership, and that will surely take about 7 to 10 years. Zaev’s government is so incapable that they don’t even want to give us a date. This is so mainly because Zaev leads the wrong policy, which comes down to the following – they changed the name so they can steal! Zaev, Dimitrov and the rest of the government thought that by simply signing the capitulation Prespa agreement, all the doors would be opened, the EU would hasten to receive them, and they would be free to steal at home and destroy the opposition. That policy is hitting the wall. That policy won’t pass in Brussels. This policy has inflicted a great national shame on Macedonia and that policy drags the country down. So this incompetent government must leave as soon as possible.

What this government also does not understand is that Europe is headed right. With their policies, which are mainly leftist, they go against that tendency. Sometimes, for me, it feels like they are stuck in time, for example, they are talking about a Pride Parade, which was “in” in Europe fifteen years ago, and now it’s something that everyone is running away from, or politics in terms of rising taxes that are different from the tendencies in Europe. All they have to do is as who did the Italian companies support in the last election. They traditionally support the left, but now for the first time they chose another concept and supported Salvini. Because they need low taxes to get out of the current recession. But these, I suppose, are distant concepts and considerations for Zaev and his team.

Europe is definitely going to the right, Macedonia is going right too, but no one told Zaev yet. The people told him that with the presidential election, and will confirm that with the next parliamentary election. In that direction, Europe already sees this, it was nice to hear President Joseph Daul at the EPP Political Opening, when he said that the results of the presidential election were an extraordinary achievement for VMRO-DPMNE and that the victory in the parliamentary elections and the formation of a government by VMRO DPMNE is in sight. A government that will bring Macedonia in the new European currents.
