Vice PM Osmani: Macedonia needs help for building national consensus on strategic issues

The European Commission’s Strategy for the Western Balkan countries has accurately assessed Macedonia’s progress, creating a historic opportunity for the country to return on the European track, Vice-Premier for European Affairs Bujar Osmani said Wednesday in Berlin at a meeting with a chairman of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Hans-Gert Pottering.

The meeting was also attended by Macedonia’s Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov, the Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release.

‘We find ourselves in an extremely important, historical period, when a national and social consensus is needed to finally wrap up Macedonia’s the European and Euro-Atlantic future,’ Osmani said.

The Konrad Adenauer Foundation with its expertise could grant substantial assistance to Macedonia’s government to include the civil sector in implementing the reform, as well as to build a broad national consensus on the country’s strategic issues, he said.
