Velikov-Petkov: Bulgaria supports Macedonia’s EU and NATO membership


Skopje, 15 January 2018  Bulgaria supports Macedonia’s EU and NATO membership, Bulgarian Ambassador to Skopje Ivan Velikov Petkov told Monday the Parliament’s Committee on European Affairs, presenting the priorities of the Bulgaria’s Presidency of the EU Council.

“Bulgaria supports Macedonian government’s efforts, the opposition and the civil society to achieve the highest national goals – membership in the EU and NATO, and this to happen during the Bulgaria’s Presidency of the EU Council,” Velikov Petkov said.

However, in order to do this, urgent reforms priorities must be implemented.

He also announced that Bulgaria during EU Presidency, will work on increasing the contacts between Western Balkan countries and improvement of the relations between them.

He also expressed his satisfaction that Agreement on Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation between Macedonia and Bulgaria is to be ratified by the Parliament.
