Transport Minister Sugareski announces addendum to the Kicevo-Ohrid highway contract

The Government is working out the final details of the addendum to the contract with the Chinese company Sinohydro. The contract addendum will extend the deadline for building the Kicevo-Ohrid highway, which expires in a few days. The addendum is estimated to grant a 36-month extension.

“We have met with the Chinese company to negotiate a deadline extension for building the Kicevo-Ohrid highway,” the Minister of Transport and Communications Goran Sugareski told reporters. “I believe we are to finalize the contract addendum in the next few days and submit it for Parliament approval.”

The director of the State Enterprise for State Roads Zoran Kitanov pointed out that it would take up to 36 months to finish the construction of the Kicevo-Ohrid highway.

“Our aim,” Kitanov said, “is to finish it, and we will finish it. However, let’s try to avoid the problems we have been fraught with during the construction of the existing Corridor 8 highways.”
