The United States interested in successful diplomatic activities between Skopje and Athens

The United States is interested in the success of the diplomatic activities between Skopje and Athens to resolve the name issue. This is the attitude of the US ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt, at the Economic Forum in Delphi, Greece, where former Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis was very skeptical. She said she is afraid that this is just another chain of opportunities that has lost Greek foreign policy, referring to the current Greek government that in a disastrous manner it manages the issue.

A part of the domestic analysts, however, believe that a possible addition to the name would not affect the change in the identity of the citizens.

“I am a citizen of the Republic of Macedonia, I am from the state nationality, and by ethnicity or identity, I am an Albanian. I am a concrete example or proof that the name of the state did not affect my ethnicity or ethnicity at all, not to mention identity,” said Albert Musliu, a political analyst.

“The floccula itself says that it is a determinant that refers to the geographical aspects of the word Macedonia. Bearing in mind that Macedonia is a region in Greece, but it also applies to our country, from here it is solely and only qualification is geographical, and it is by no means an identity,” said Anna Cupeska Staniskovska, a political scientist.

Anthropologist Goran Janev says that a dignified solution to the name dispute is needed. Otherwise, says Janev, part of the citizens will feel defeated, and this can have severe consequences.

“The Republic of Macedonia, as such, if it loses part of its dignity, will create the first permanent conflict within the Macedonian ethnic body, you will have, for a very long time, people who will feel, not defeated, but destroyed and humiliated. You do not need such people as citizens in a country because they will not know how to channel their anger. It is a problem of unprecedented proportions and in relation to interethnic relations inside the country and abroad, “said Goran Janev – an anthropologist.

Therefore, Janev believes, although a quick solution is desired, the talks with Greece should be conducted with caution and with an open mind, for them to come out with a preserved dignity.
