Tevdovski: Record EUR 2,4 billion exports in Germany, cooperation enhancing

Macedonia-Germany trade exchange in 2017 amounted to EUR 3,2 billion, of which EUR 2,4 billion exports from Macedonia, a record to date, said Finance Minister Dragan Tevdovski late on Friday.

“The positive trend has continued in the first quarter of 2018 with a 16-percent growth in exports, which is an indicator of the Government’s sound policies. However, cooperation can still develop,” said Tevdovski at a reception organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, the Finance Ministry and the City of Skopje.

The event was attended by German MP Metin Hakverdi, Vice Premier Radmila Sekerinska and Skopje Mayor Petre Silegov.

“The Macedonian-German economic cooperation is traditionally strong. Germany is Macedonia’s most significant trade exchange partner. The EUR 3,2 billion exchange represents a 13-percent increase compared to the previous year. The trend is continuing in 2018,” said Tevdovski.

According to him, German investments in Macedonia over the past decade stand at about EUR 250 million, but the potential is much higher.

“Macedonia can offer qualified workforce and favorable business environment,” added Tevdovski.

Minister Tevdovski stressed that transparency has significantly increased, the public debt has been put under control, while investors have regained their confidence in Macedonia’s economy.
