Swedish PM congratulates Macedonia on joining Global Deal partnership


The Republic of Macedonia has joined the Global Deal partnership towards decent work and inclusive growth, as only partner in the region.

On this occasion Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven sends letter to Minister of Labour and Social Policy Mila Carovska expressing sincere gratitude for Macedonia’s joining this global partnership, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy told Tuesday.

The Global Deal partnership is consisted of a total of 80 different partners, i.e. countries, companies, businesses, unions and other institutions.

“The Global Deal is global partnership with objective of jointly addressing the challenges in the global labor market and enabling people to benefit from globalization. It aims to encourage governments, businesses, unions and other organisations to make commitments to enhance social dialogue. Effective social dialogue can contribute to decent work, quality jobs and increased productivity and by extension to greater equality and inclusive growth,” reads the press release.

By joining this initiative, Macedonia is committed to improving and enhancing social dialogue, which is in accordance to government’s efforts for increased inclusiveness and transparency of the processes of creating and implementing economic and social policies.

The Global Deal was launched by Swedish PM Stefan Löfven and designed in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in 2016. The Global Deal is a multi-stakeholder partnership in line with Goal 17 (“partnerships for the goals”) in the UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
