Spasovski: All MoI employees will be covered by the vetting process

All Ministry of Interior employees will be covered by the vetting process, including a check-up of their vocational education, integrity, property and possible criminal activities by certain structures within the ministry, said Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski.

Minister Spasovski told reporters the judiciary and the public prosecutor’s office should also be interested in the vetting process, towards strengthening the professionalism and integrity in building a functional system that protects the state and the citizens and does not depend from politics and politicians.

Asked if there are double agents in the MoI, he said the vetting process has already started in the Security and Counterintelligence Administration.

“I would like a confirmation of this, not speculations, so that the right decisions are made,” added Spasovski.

Asked about the wealth of certain police officers, he said a number of procedures have been initiated regarding falsified diplomas.

“There are many people who have more property than long-time businessmen. This is what the vetting process is about, establishing the facts about an employee,” noted Spasovski.

Faculty of Security Professor Nikola Dujovski said MoI members should be professional and trained according to European standards.

“A police officer must possess integrity, immune to any illegal influence. There should be a logical career advancement, and every officer who has decided to serve the country must be committed to the fullest,” said Dujovski.
