Several convicts in April 27 case request presidential pardons


Several requests for presidential pardons of people found guilty in the Parliament storming trial have been sent to President Gjorge Ivanov’s office.
The last pardon request was received on Friday afternoon, stated the President’s office.
Last month, 16 men were sentenced to a total of 211 years in prison for their involvement in the violence in Parliament on 27 April 2017.
Mitko Chavkov, former interior minister and head of the Public Security Department, was handed down the longest sentence – 18 years in prison.
Ivanov’s second 5-year term ends on May 12. The country will elect his successor on April 21 and May 5.
