Selmani: Is This Justice, Are These Reforms?

Editor of TV Sitel, Ivona Talevska, is sentenced to two years of probation. She pled guilty to the ‘Tifani’ case in which she was charged with tax evasion. Talevska will not go to jail on condition that she does not repeat the crime for which she was accused in the next four years.

Judge Sofija Lalicic said that, given the exemplary behavior of the accused and the fact that she had not committed a criminal offense, she was sentenced to probation. In addition, she should return the money from the wage tax, plus the costs of the expertise and incidental expenses within 30 days.

The Tifani case refers to a crime that happened between 2008 and 2014, with Talevska as the manager of the consulting company Smart Smart Ltd. and Smart Group DOOEL Skopje for the 2008-2014 tax years, she evaded paying taxes, gave false data in the final accounts, and she avoided paying 2,344,463 denars or 37,634 euros through the companies and 1,040,840 denars or 16,924 euros personal tax.

President of the Association of Journalists of Macedonia, Naser Selmani, expressed revolt after the court ruled probation to Ivona Talevska for tax evasion.

– Four and a half years in prison for Tomislav kezarovski, for allegedly revealing a protected witness, a probation of two years for Ivona Talevska for tax evasion. Is this justice?! Is this how the new government envisaged reforms in the judiciary? Bravo to all of you, revolutionaries – evaluated Selmani. Vladimir Milcin also responded: “This is no longer a restoration, this is a counterrevolution of the privileged in all regimes. This is the only way to explain the three years in prison for kebabs and two unserved years with which this enriched viper has been awarded, “alluding to the three-year sentence for stealing kebabs. Meanwhile, Andreja Stojkovski from “Eurothink said: “If it sticks to the Criminal Code and to its integrity in the state, the SPO should appeal the verdict for Ivona because the crime she pled guilty of is punishable with two years in prison!” Some reminded the sentence for Velija Ramkovski who got 5 years for tax evasion, while Ivona got away with probation. Journalist Branko Trickoski, meanwhile, said that after Talevska’s probation, only idiots will pay taxes in Macedonia.
