Sekerinska: Macedonia comes out of the mud and isolation

“Every MP who believes and knows that Macedonia needs be part of the western world should support the constitutional changes in the following stages. Therefore, we will continue to implement policies of unifying all positive and progressive forces in the country. Let’s put aside divisions in the interest of the country’s future,” said Sekerinska, welcoming the Parliament’s vote on behalf of the Government. She said that it was a great step forward in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, which opened the doors for the European and Euro-Atlantic future of the country.

“Let me extend my congratulations on the joint progress made by 80 MPs from the ruling and opposition parties, thus confirming Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic orientation. The MPs, supported by democratic forces in the country, have assumed their responsibility, using the historic chance and writing a new page in Macedonia’s history, taking it out of the mud and eliminating the risks from isolation and lack of progress,” Defence Minister Sekerinska said.

This historic vote of MPs, according to her, was vote against isolation, insecurity, poverty and new political crises.

“This vote again turned the world’s attention on Macedonia, saluting the statehood responsibility of MPs and the strength to put aside other aspects and Macedonia’s future to the forefront. This historic moment calls for unification of all progressive forces in Macedonia more than ever before. I believe an even greater support is possible in Parliament towards implementing the Prespa Agreement. Every MP who believes and knows that Macedonia needs be part of the western world should support the constitutional changes in the following stages. Therefore, we will continue to implement policies of unifying all positive and progressive forces in the country,” said Sekerinska added that amendments would not be drafted behind closed doors, but in cooperation with the Parliament.

According to her, Macedonia is prepared for a prosperous European future that everyone has been dreaming of and fighting for over the past 27 years.

“Macedonia has demonstrated its readiness to join NATO and start EU accession talks. The decision of the two-thirds majority in Parliament means that Macedonia will join the protective shield of the most powerful military-political alliance in the world. The decision means that Macedonia becomes a factor of stability in the region. The decision guarantees the security of our citizens and protection of our borders, for all times,”  Sekerinska pointed out.

She noted that NATO and the EU’s open doors would bring foreign investments and encourage domestic ones, which would result in more jobs in the country.
