Day two of protest against constitutional changes in Skopje

Despite cold weather and snowfall,  a group of citizens are staging protest again today against constitutional changes outside the Parliament building. Citizens say that the protest is aimed at defending the Macedonian name, identity, history and tradition of Macedonian people and against “the greatest national treachery.”

Members of citizens associations “Macedonia Blocking,” “Christian Brotherhood,” “United Macedonia” party and “Hardliners” group are participating in the protest. The street in front of Parliament’s building is closed and an increased presence of police is noticed.  Parliament is to resume the debate on constitutional changes today at 15h.

On the agenda are the draft-constitutional XXXIII, XXXIV, XXXV and XXXVI  amendments as well as the draft-constitutional law for the proclamation of the amendments, which is the third and final phase of the process of constitutional revision arising from the Prespa Agreement with Greece.
