“Republic of North Macedonia” amendments published in the Official Gazette

The Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia in its Jan. 12 issue published the resolution to adopt the amendments 33, 34, 35, and 36 to the Constitution. Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi signed the resolution.

Macedonia’s Parliament passed on Jan. 11 constitutional changes in line with the Agreement with Greece signed to resolve the name dispute. Having done this, Macedonia fulfilled its part of the agreement.

Next, Greece is expected to ratify the Agreement in its Parliament, which would open the door for Macedonia towards NATO and EU integration. The constitutional revision changing the country’s name to the Republic of North Macedonia will go into effect once the Prespa Agreement and the NATO accession protocol are ratified in Greece’s Parliament.
