President’s Cabinet: Pendarovski did not intend to attack or meddle in legal proceedings

North Macedonia’s President Stevo Pendarovski did not discredit the Public Prosecutor’s Office on any grounds; neither did he intend to attack any institutions nor meddle in any legal proceedings, the President’s Cabinet wrote in a press release.

“We’d like to underline that President Pendarovski in his address voiced his full support for the relevant institutions, especially the prosecution and the court, and highlighted he would do everything in his power to protect them from any pressures they might face during the investigation,” the release reads.

The reaction follows today’s written statement by the PPO in which it wrote “it’s not the right time to attack institutions,” adding that it wouldn’t allow for politicians to meddle into legal proceedings or discredit its prosecutors.

The President’s Cabinet once again reiterated the Racket case investigation needs to be efficient and thorough, calling for respect for the presumption of innocence in the investigation.
