Pendarovski: Plan 3-6-9 must be implemented at a fast pace

Macedonia’s NATO integration coordinator Stevo Pendarovski said that the country should stick to the Plan 3-6-9 and implement all reforms necessary to join the Alliance.

According to Pendarovski, the previous government set Macedonia back regarding this matter.

“In 2008, we had met all the military, technological, and political conditions apart from the name dispute,” Pendarovski said Tuesday in Tetovo during his talk on the country’s NATO integration.

“Meanwhile, they imposed another three or four conditions: to deal with our politicized institutions, our biased court system, our unfree media…”

The new government, he said, has addressed these issues and has been working to solve them at a fast pace.

“Difficult as it may be, the Plan 3-6-9 has to be implemented. We aim to achieve this, i.e., to find solutions to issues other than the name, by the end of the next NATO summit. All other conditions must be met so that the name issue is the only one that remains,” Pendarovski said.

According to him, Macedonia’s only option to integrate into NATO is to implement the Plan 3-6-9 and solve the name dispute with Greece.
