The Parliament of Serbia adopted the law on ratification of the agreement between the Government of Serbia and the Government of North Macedonia on establishment of joint traffic control at Presevo-Tabanovce border crossing.
Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said that it is important for competitiveness and connectivity to build common border crossings with neighbors in order to facilitate the flow of goods and people.
“No matter how much we invest in infrastructure, we build highways and modernize the railways, there is a problem of non-physical barriers, which are not just a matter of crowds in the summer period. They are especially present in cargo transportation where the waiting time could be from 10 to 15 hours at border crossings,” Mihajlovic said.
The Serbian minister pointed out that this was the main reason why they started talks with neighboring countries to make a joint border crossing points that will facilitate the cross-border travel and international road traffic.
