Parliament committee recommends stripping Gruevski of immunity, final decision on a plenary session

The Parliament’s Committee on Rules of Procedure and Mandatory-Immunity Issues has endorsed the six motions by the court for stripping of Nikola Gruevski of his MP immunity, for the purpose of ordering detention. VMRO-DPMNE MPs did not attend the session.

The decision will be forwarded to the Parliament Speaker, who is set to schedule a plenary session.

Committee chairman Pavle Bogoevski voiced disappointment from the fact that the Macedonian system failed to ensure Gruevski’s serving of the two-year prison sentence in case Tank.

He urged for responsibility and an outcome of the investigation over Gruevski’s escape from justice.
