Mogherini: North Macedonia and Albania should get a date in June or July

North Macedonia and Albania should get a date in June or July to start talks, said High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini at Wednesday’s meeting with President Stevo Pendarovski in Brussels.

Mogherini said she would recommend this to all EU member countries’ foreign ministers next week, once again acknowledging our country’s achievements.

North Macedonia is the only country in the region to have solved all disputes with its neighbors, Pendarovski and Mogherini agreed at the meeting, while also noting the country’s commitment to reform processes.

President Pendarovski said the citizens expect the country to get a date to start negotiations in response to the achieved progress. Starting talks would also support stability in the region, he added.

He urged EU leaders to judge prospective member countries by clear and fair standards and on the basis of individual achievements.
