Mitchell today in Pristina, tomorrow in Skopje, Thursday in Athens


US support for Macedonia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations for the country’s negotiations with Greece over the name dispute, but also an appeal to the Macedonian government to implement reforms to strengthen democracy, the rule of law and freedom of the media, will be transmitted by the American assistant state -Secretary for Europe and Eurasia, Wess Mitchell, who will arrive tomorrow in Skopje.
Mitchell in Skopje will meet with Prime Minister Zoran Zaev and Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

The name dispute is expected to be discussed at the meetings that the US Assistant Secretary of State will hold on March 15 in Athens with representatives of the Government of Greece. According to the State Department’s dematerial, Mitchell will discuss with the Greek authorities the deepening of relations between the United States and Greece, strengthening bilateral co-operation, especially in the areas of defense, energy, trade and investment.

Mitchell starts his tour of the Balkan countries starting today, which will last until March 17th. He arrives today in Pristina, tomorrow is in Skopje, and then visits Belgrade, Athens and Nicosia.
