Minister Sugareski inspects construction progress on Kicevo-Ohrid highway section

The activities related to realizing infrastructure projects will intensify, Transport, Communication Minister Goran Sugarevski told reporters on Sunday, after inspecting the progress in construction of the Kicevo-Ohrid highway section.

‘There was a delay as we inherited serious problems, due to the poor realization of the construction works of ‘Sinohydro’, ‘Transmet’ and other companies. All of the problems related to Kicevo-Ohrid and Miladinovce –Stip highway sections – the largest infrastructure projects – were the real reason for slowing the ground works down, which substantially plunged the construction industry rate, thus affecting the GDP,’ Sugarevski said.

He expressed belief that the construction industry would revive and reach a two-digit growth rate.

‘The second half of 2018 will register a strong growth in construction and it will positively affect the GDP. And I state it with certainty because March kicked off a strong construction campaign across the country. Roads, railroads, including other capital projects are being built. Results will be evident in the coming quarter,’ Sugarevski said few days ago.
