Minister Popovski and Italian Ambassador Romeo discuss government transparency and accountability

Minister of Communications, Accountability and Transparency Robert Popovski met Tuesday with Italian Ambassador Carlo Romeo, discussing the Government’s transparency and accountability, and its commitment to independent and professional media.

Ambassador Romeo saluted the Government’s transparency and expressed readiness for support regarding sharing of experiences over accountability and enabling conditions for professional and independent functioning of media, the Government said in a press release.

“We promised citizens accountability and transparency in our work. We also committed ourselves to creating conditions for independent and professional Macedonian Radio Television and Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services, as well as changes to the Law on Audio and Audiovisual Media Services. We expect the opposition’s support for these changes, taking into consideration that reforms in the media sector are among the key remarks in the Priebe report and a commitment arising from the Przino Agreement,” said Minister Popovski.
