Mijalkov and Thaci’s trials postponed for October

Due to the absence of two witnesses, as well as because the minutes of the previous hearing were not translated into Albanian, today’s hearing for the Titanic 2 case was not held.

Defendant Menduh Thaci insisted he was provided with an interpreter in Albanian. He was present in the courtroom and demanded that his legal rights are respected provided with statements of the witness from the previous hearing in Albanian so that he could understand it better and ask a question.

After nearly half an hour of wrangling with prosecutor Fatime Fetai who in turn offered to personally orally translate the minutes or to get a recess for the minutes to be translated in writing. But Judge Ognen Stavrev decided that there were no conditions for holding the hearing.

The next trials were scheduled for the beginning and end of October.

All defendants were present in the courtroom, including the ex-director of the UBK, Sasho Mijalkov.

The case “Titanic 2” refers to election irregularities in 2013.
