Mickoski urges for early parliamentary election alongside presidential

VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski urged late Saturday for early parliamentary elections to be held alongside next year’s presidential polls.

At a party rally in front of the Government building, he asked for a level playing field for all political parties, State Election Commission president nominated by the opposition, and formation of a caretaker government 100 days prior to the snap elections, as was the case in 2016.

“Let’s see if the people agree with what Zaev an SDSM are doing,” said Mickoski.

Regarding the name dispute, Mickoski said VMRO-DPMNE would not support a constitutional revision for the purpose of changing the constitutional name. He accused the authorities of conducting secretive and non-transparent  talks, with reports usually coming from the Greek media.

“NATO and EU represent an aspiration for our generation, an excellent opportunity for the country and its citizens, but changes have to come from ourselves. We must believe in ourselves and our own qualities,” said Mickoski.

The VMRO-DPMNE leader criticized the Government of failing to fulfill its promises and ruining the people’s dignity during the first year since formation.

“A year of missed opportunities, a year of laziness, divisions and chaos. A year of political terror, arrests, torture. A year of economic failures and rotting of the society,” added Mickoski.

According to him, Macedonia needs economy, not bilingualism, progress and prosperity, not erection of artificial walls and divisions.

“Albanians and Macedonians need jobs, not anti-constitutional law on languages,” said Mickoski.

He stressed that VMRO-DPMNE is drafting a new programme that would soon be promoted. It will focus on the economy, health, education etc.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and European People’s Party (EPP) President Joseph Daul delivered video-addresses at the rally.
