Mickoski announces protests against name change

Mickoski told reporters outside the Parliament building that VMRO-DPMNE and its coalition will not support the constitutional revision, because the changes have not received the legitimacy by citizens.

“We are convinced these changes are damaging for the Macedonian national dignity and alter the identity, primarily the institutional one,” said Mickoski.

According to him, PM Zaev did not get the support to change the constitution and the name at a referendum, but is doing that in a criminal way, by using the judiciary to blackmail MPs.

“The name is not changed by the people but 80 lawmakers, who have been secured by way of blackmail and intimidation,” added Mickoski.

The VMRO-DPMNE leader said he would use his democratic right to protest.

“I urge you not to succumb to provocations by infiltrated police structures. I call on you to join us and protest with dignity, although they are trying to take away our dignity,” said Mickoski.
