Katica Janeva wants to stay in the SPO with the entire team

The head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office (SPO) Katica Janeva wants both her and her entire team to stay and keep working together for another term. She expressed her wish during the ongoing negotiations on the new law on public prosecution, which will decide the fate of the SPO.

Katina Janeva expects from the political parties to quickly reach an agreement, but she wants to keep the same composition of the prosecution that she manages. The current proposal is to do a rotation or re-election of four prosecutors every six months.

– I think that it will be in the powers of the Council of Public Prosecutors. You know that at the moment when we were elected, both myself and my team three and a half years ago, we did not plan to stay that way permanently. We have proved through our work that we should move to an institution that should be incorporated in the legal system. We are professionals, we do our work, in terms of how it will be regulated, no one knows. We hope that the entire team will stay and we will continue to work together for another term. It is our wish, I support all my colleagues to stay in the team. We have two more posts that are vacant, and according to the decision of the Council we have the right to two more colleagues that will become part of the team. But all this will be part of the work of the SPO in the period after the law is passed – said Janeva.
