Kammenos: Tsipras is aware of an alternative agreement proposal, but doesn’t approve it

Being the government’s coalition partner, I was obliged to present an alternative proposal, which Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is aware of, but does not approve it, says Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos regarding his plan B on inter-state agreements as an alternative to the Prespa Agreement that was presented at meetings with U.S. officials during a visit to Washington, MIA reports from Athens.

“The PM is aware of the alternative proposal but he has not approved it as a national policy. I have said that this should have been an alternative proposal in case the Prespa Agreement fails to move forward from both sides,” Kammnos told national TV station ERT, explaining that in order to guarantee security in the region, an agreement should be concluded by Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia and the United States, later joined by Serbia, upon the model of the trilateral and quadrilateral meetings organized by Greece.

According to him, the response from the United States was their insistence on supporting the Prespa Agreement.
