Hahn: Solution to name dispute is possible in near future

It is possible Macedonia and Greece to find solution to the name dispute in near future. Both sides are determined to this process, at the highest level and it is necessary to strike a deal that will serve the interests of both sides, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn told Wednesday’s press conference answering journalist question whether the EU has ‘plan B’ for Macedonia and its EU integration if a solution to the name dispute is not reached.

“I am very confident again that it is possible to reach a solution, and not only because the negotiations have began and are ongoing, but because good neighbourly relations are very important for the region and the EU,” Hahn said after handing over the EC Progress Report on Macedonia to PM Zoran Zaev.

Hahn underlined that the negotiation process should result in a compromise for which each side should give something to achieve the final goal and sign a fair deal.
