Hahn: My statement on name solution was misinterpreted

Commissioner of European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn has said his recent statement that the name issue could be solved in a couple of weeks was misinterpreted.

“That was a mistake, there is a recording of this. I said I have faith that a solution can be reached in a couple of weeks, not in ‘two weeks’. This means that I believe a solution to the name dispute is possible in the near future,” said Hahn.

He reiterated that the most important thing now, following the European Commission recommendation over the start of the negotiations, is for a solution to be reached so that member-states endorse the recommendation.
