Grujevski and Boskovski to appear before Supreme Court in Athens on Friday

Athens, 15 February 2018 (MIA) – Ex-secret service officers Goran Grujevski and Nikola Boskovski are scheduled on Friday at 9:30 a.m. to attend a hearing at the Supreme Court in Athens, which is to deliberate over their appeal involving the extradition ruling of a court in Thessaloniki, MIA reports from the Greek capital.

Grujevski and Boskoski’s hearing today at the Asylum Committee in Thessaloniki was postponed. They were supposed to explain the reasons for filing a request to seek asylum in Greece.

Their initial hearing by the committee was cancelled because of an obstacle to provide an interpreter into Macedonian.

The Athens hearing comes after their appeals to a decision of a court in Thessaloniki approving their extradition to Macedonia.

In Greece, some have estimated that the two fugitives should be extradited next month to Macedonia, when hearings are scheduled at the Skopje Criminal Court over two cases of the Special Public Prosecution.

As MIA has previously reported,  Goran Grujevski and Nikola Boskovski, former Administration for Security and Counterintelligence (UBK) officials, are indicted by the Special Public Prosecution for allegedly destroying an equipment for interception of communications.

Grujevski and Boskovski had filed a request seeking political asylum in November 2017. Their move was expected because by seeking asylum, the extradition process can be prolonged, MIA’s correspondent reports from Athens.

In Greece, both Grujevski and Boskovski are facing three different and unrelated processes, namely extradition, charges for possession of fake passports and asylum request.
