Greek FM Katrougalos: North Macedonia has proved it is open to European prospects

North Macedonia has proved it is open to European prospects, we wanted to send a message that when a country is trying to align itself with the European acquis, we Europeans should respond in the same way, Greek Foreign Minister Georgios Katrougalos said after a working breakfast for friends of North Macedonia in Brussels.

Greek FM Katrougalos noted the impressive attendance by the ministers adding that Greece wanted to convey several messages.

“We wanted to convey the message that Greece supports the European prospects of Western Balkans countries, but this process is assessed according to each country’s progress.

“North Macedonia has proved it is open to European prospects, showing political courage and promoting both the Prespa Agreement and important internal reforms,” Katrougalos pointed out.

Regarding the progress in the implementation of the Prespa Agreement, Katrougalos said “the two sides want to apply both the spirit and letter of the agreement.” “I think we should be generally pleased with the implementation of the agreement so far,” said Katrougalos.
