EU pressures Kosovo for the establishment of the Association of Serbian Communes

Brussels has mounted pressure on Kosovo’s leadership for the establishment of the Association of Serbian Communes in Kosovo.

EU senior officials said that negotiators from Pristina and Belgrade will sit down in Brussels to draft the status of the Association for which Serbia and Belgrade had agreed 5 years ago.

The senior EU official, Angelina Eichhorts has been staying in Pristina, where she has managed to convince the Kosovo side to advance with this issue. She has also announced that Belgrade will participate in the drafting of the statute.

“We invite the chief negotiators from Belgrade and Pristina, their teams and technical experts to hold talks in Brussels and engage in a constructive way in the process of the drafting of the statute”, Eichhorst said.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, who is the main actor in these negotiations, has also involved PM Ramush Haradinaj in this process. /balkaneu.com/
