Mickoski: The majority of VMRO-DPMNE supporters would either abstain or vote ‘against’
In the 30 September referendum all citizens of Macedonia should act in line with their belief, listening to their heart and their conscience, opposition VMRO-DPMNE leader Kristijan Mickoski said late Monday in an interview with TV Telma.

He once again failed to give direct answer about what guidelines he, as a leader of the largest opposition party, would give to supporters of VMRO-DPMNE.

The referendum day – 30 September – is arriving in few days when you will be informed about my stance on the matter, Mickoski said.

He considers that the majority of VMRO-DPMNE members and supporters would either abstain or vote ‘against’ in the upcoming referendum.

VMRO-DPMNE’s position on the referendum is clear, he said. If the question was to be related with the (name) Prespan Agreement only I would have exercised my voting right in the referendum and do my best to convince citizens to vote ‘against’ the deal, Mickoski said.

He also reiterated his party’s stance on the agreement, namely that VMRO-DPMNE cannot accept the Constitution to be amended for the constitutional name of the country to be changed.

Mickovski reaffirmed his readiness to accept the outcome of the referendum, namely if the turnout threshold is met and majority of citizens vote ‘in favor’. He however failed to say what would be his party’s stance
