Today in Brussels, Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov met with Senator Chris Murphy, co-chair of the Subcommittee on Europe at the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, which included Suzan DelBeneof the United States House of Representatives.

– Dimitrov and Murphy exchanged views on the current situation in the Republic of Macedonia and the region, jointly ascertaining the importance and the need for faster Euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia, the Foreign Ministry said.

Dimitrov introduced Senator Murphy with the reform achievements on the Euro-Atlantic agenda, as well as with the current developments in the process of talks with Greece in overcoming the difference in the name dispute.
– The Republic of Macedonia is an unfinished job for NATO, and in 2018 it offers an excellent opportunity to complete the strategic determination of the Macedonian citizens for full membership in the Alliance. We are working hard on systemic reforms in the judiciary and intelligence systems, and intensify our partnership engagement in the fight against global terrorism and extremism and building peace in Afghanistan, Dimitrov stressed at the meeting.

The Foreign Ministry says that after his stay in Brussels, Senator Murphy will visit the Republic of Macedonia and participate in the commemorative events marking the 75th anniversary of the deportation of the Jews from Macedonia.
