Deskoska: We drafted an excellent law, I expect the support of all parties in Parliament

The international community approves of the proposed Law on the Public Prosecution and all political parties should support it as it’s in the best interest of our country, according to Minister of Justice Renata Deskoska.

Justice Minister Deskoska said the new legislation drafted by the Ministry of Justice was optimal and had received high marks from experts.

“We did our job and drafted an excellent law,” she said. “I expect from all political parties in Parliament to put the interests of our country regarding European integration ahead of their own or those of persons indicted by the SPO.”

Asked if she expected from DUI to back the new law, Deskoska said: “I expect the support of all parties, not only those within the ruling coalition but also from the opposition, as this is a law that needs a two-thirds majority vote.”

On a possible meeting with VMRO-DPMNE representatives, Deskoska said it wasn’t scheduled.

“If there’s any shift on their part,” she added, “we can schedule it immediately; [but] meetings held just to entertain the public, I think, are not productive.”

Justice Minister Deskoska attended a conference Monday on the ACMIS system within the courts, organized by the Ministry of Justice and the U.S. Embassy.
