Deskoska: Reconciliation law is being drafted by Parliament, not by the Ministry of Justice

Law on reconciliation is being drafted by the parliamentary committee on reconciliation and not by the Ministry of Justice, said Minister of Justice Renata Deskoska ahead of Tuesday’s debate on the draft amendments to the Law on Courts.

“Any decisions about it will be made by the reconciliation committee and forwarded to Parliament,” said Justice Minister Deskoska.

In response to a question if there would be a new general amnesty law some inmates have asked for, Deskoska reiterated Prime Minister Zaev’s statement that a new law on general amnesty had already been adopted a few months ago and that the reconciliation committee was formed with a different goal in mind.

“Discussions are underway for possibly pardoning only those not involved in masterminding, organizing the attack on Parliament and in the acts of violence,” Zaev told reporters.
