Decision on the referendum date most likely today

The decision on scheduling the referendum will be known most probably on Monday after the meeting between the Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi and coordinators of parliamentary groups. It is expected the opposition VMRO-DPMNE to reveal the decision over this issue, whose coordinator does not attend these meetings.

There is no official information whether the government and the opposition reached any deal, especially on the referendum issue, and according to unofficial information, it is up to leaders of SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE Zoran Zaev and Hristijan Mickoski.

PM Zaev has voiced belief that the Parliament would take a decision over the referendum even without the opposition VMRO-DPMNE in case an agreement is not reached among political parties at the ongoing discussions.

Certain media citing government sources reported Sunday that the decision will include referendum question as it has been recently announced by PM Zaev: “Do you favor EU and NATO accession by accepting the agreement between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Greece?”
