Court rejects Sead Kochan’s request for postponement of prison sentence

The judge for execution of criminal sanctions within the Skopje Criminal Court rejected on Monday the appeal for postponement of the execution of the prison sentence of Sead Kochan.

The Macedonian businessmanаn Sead Kochan lodged a request for postponement of prison sentence to 4 years and 8 months due to health reasons. He was sentenced in a case code-named ‘Trust’ for misuse of public procurement procedure.

“The judge for execution of sanctions at the Skopje-based Criminal Court after obtaining the complete medical documentation necessary for deciding on the request for postponing the execution of the prison sentence to one of the defendants in ‘Trust’ case, brought a decision on July 19 to reject the request as groundless,” Court said.

Court decision has already been submitted to the defendant who have the right to appeal to the Criminal Council and after court sentence goes into effect, Kochan is immediately obliged to begin serving his prison sentence.

Kochan is convicted for forgery of tender documentation for a tender by ELEM worth 17 million EUR. Kochan is the only one in this case who should serve a prison sentence.
Kochan was initially sentenced to six years in prison, but the Court of Appeals reduced his sentence.
