CoE Secretary General Jagland welcomes Athens – Skopje name agreement

The Secretary General of the 47-nation Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, has warmly welcomed the agreement achieved between the Prime Ministers of Greece and Macedonia on the name issue.

“This agreement has been a long time coming. It shows that talking, listening and understanding each other’s concerns allows us to find solutions to even the most difficult problems. The leaders of our two member states have set an example of cooperation and good will to their own countries and to the whole of Europe,” said the Secretary General.
