Cavkov in detention due to flight risk – close friend said he planned to flee to Chalkidiki


The decision to place former Public Security Bureau director Mitko Cavkov in detention is based on an official information obtained from one of his close friends. According to the operational information of the Public Security Bureau, Cavkov owns a villa on Chalkidiki where he planned to escape before the verdict for April 27th was pronounced.

“After a meeting with a close friend, the official that received information that the defendant in the April 27 case, Mitko Cavkov, owns a villa on Chalkidiki, the Republic of Greece, where he plans to go on Friday (15.03.2019), to flee from justice, pointing out that the friend is in very close relations with the family of the defendant, it is stated in the court’s decision that recognizes the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to order detention.

Cavkov was detained yesterday and taken to the Sutka Investigation Prison. As accused of the events of 27 April, he is facing a prison sentence of  years.

The verdict is expected on Friday.
