Athens municipality rejects demand for a resolution of support of protest for ‘defending the name Macedonia’

By eight votes ‘against’ and three ‘for’ the Athens municipality council rejected Thursday the demand of Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris for adopting a resolution of support for the upcoming protest in the Greek capital for ‘defending the name Macedonia’.

Athens Mayor Georgios Kaminis suggested for the demand to be rejected, saying that referendums and resolutions divide people and spread hatred, MIA correspondent from Athens cites Greek news agency ANA-MPA.

The organizers of the protest in Thessaloniki on 21 January said that a new one would take place in Athens on 4 February.
