Asaf Ademi takes over Alagjozovski’s post as Culture Minister

Asaf Ademi is the first member of the Besa party to become a Minister in PM Zoran Zaev’s Cabinet. He took over the post from his predecessor Robert Alagjozovski in the Ministry of Culture on Monday.

“I will be everyone’s Minister,” Ademi said, “regardless of their ethnic, political, or religious background. I will try to create a united cultural identity for all and build bridges of cultural cooperation among all communities and all citizens in Macedonia.”

Ademi is a construction engineer. Until now, he was the managing director of INSCALE Global’s Skopje offices. He has also served as an Ambassador of Macedonia to Danmark.

The new Culture Minister promised collaboration and openness, whereas Alagjozovski said he expected the current culture reforms to continue.

“We expect a new collective agreement for cultural workers,” Alagjozovski said. “The new Culture Law has been drafted already, so we expect the new Minister to continue our work at the same pace. Our goal is to build a contemporary system for citizens and cultural workers on the ruins of the previous one that was ravaged for 11 years.”

Alagjozovski headed the Ministry of Culture since June 1st, 2017 when Zoran Zaev formed the new Government. He remains in Zaev’s Cabinet as a National Coordinator for Culture, Culture Development, and Interdepartmental Cooperation.
