Alexander the Great monument removed from Skopje’s airport
Alexander the Great monument was removed late last night from Skopje’s airport, a few days after the name on the outside of the airport had been removed.
The monument has been removed by a private company at a time when the airport was not very busy. This monument was placed in 2011 when the Turkish company, TAV, obtained a contract to manage the airport.
This company says that it is respecting the decisions brought by the government. The decisions to rename the airport were brought by the government a month ago, as a sign of good will to strengthen ties with Greece.
In December 2006, Skopje’s airport was named “Alexander the Great”, while now it has been renamed as “Skopje” International Airport.
