30-day detention for former UBK director Vladimir Atanasovski

The Skopje Criminal Court ordered a 30-day detention to former director of the Administration of Security and Counterintelligence (UBK) Vladimir Atanasovski in relation to his involvement in the events of 27 April 2017 in Parliament.

He was arrested late Tuesday on charges of “association for purposes of hostile activity” under the Criminal Code and was brought to Criminal Court for questioning.

The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Corruption requested detention on grounds of possible escape, influencing witnesses, and potential repeat of crime.

The defendants in parliament storming case, Stefan and Mihail Mladenovski and Zaharie Simovski, pinpointed Vladimir Atanasovski as one of the organizers of storming the parliament and ordering actions against at that time opposition members.

Vladimir Atanasovski was appointed director of the UBK in September 2016 after Saso Mijalkov resigned.
